Unscrupulous: A Western Romance and Adventure Novel by Morgan Lee Wylie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is not my usual genre to read but the blurb captured my attention. Morgan Lee Wylie has a brilliant way with words. She has a way of provoking emotion through her words that make the reader completely engaged not willing to put the book down.
One of my favorite examples…
“Before Wyland’s shape materialized out of the night, Aimee saw the raised revolver. She stopped squirming and froze. For a moment, hard blue eyes met hers, then he fired. The explosion rolled like thunder around the clearing.”
WOAH!
From the first line to the last line I was invested in Josiah Wyland.
If I can say anything critical it would be the pace didn’t allow me to fully get invested in any other character mentioned. There were a few characters that peaked my interest but I didn’t get to fall in love or hate with any. Some times even side characters need more love from the writer. Though Harry Potter is the main character some might say Hermione is the most favored 🙂
