Diane Gates is a thirty-year-old retired criminologist with a passion for literature. Following her father’s death, she’d opened a bookstore in his honor, and left the world of forensics behind. Success has since come easy, and the shop performs without a hitch . . . until one fateful evening.

At first, Diane believes the break-in is a petty, one-off occurrence, but low and behold, it happens again. And this time, besides the broken glass, a body is left behind.

Joining forces with detective Eric Barnes, Diane falls into old habits and decides to investigate the murder. As their case progresses, however, the damning evidence points at Diane.
